WOMEN WARRIORS
Women Warriors is not a story of heroines, but a story of transformation. It presents women who entered the space of war not as exceptions, but as facts, shifting the boundaries of access to power, decision making, and responsibility. The series captures the moment when female presence no longer asks for permission, but defines a new normal – one shaped by action, competence, and lasting change.
Women Warriors - Women, War, and Contemporary Female Perspective
WOMEN WARRIORS is a series of contemporary portraits inspired by women who were actively involved in war, risk, and moments of structural transformation. These works are not historical reconstructions nor biographical illustrations, but artistic interpretations of attitudes, decisions, and the psychological cost of functioning in a world of extreme demands.
The series consists of portraits inspired by figures such as Stefania Wojtulanis-Karpińska (codename Barbara), Krystyna Skarbek, Nancy Wake, Loretta Perfectus Walsh, and Zoe Bedell. Each of them represents a different mode of female presence within conflict - from function and structure, through intelligence and sabotage, to the conscious crossing of institutional barriers.
