Dorset is an ink drawing presenting a figure of hybrid, organic-mineral structure, positioned on the threshold between figuration and landscape form. Its segmented body evokes simultaneously a geological formation, a biological remnant, and a construct of uncertain function. The figure operates as a guardian - not in a narrative sense, but as a symbolic presence regulating the relationship between nature and perception.
The psychedelic quality of the work emerges through fragmentation of form and the accumulation of rhythmic structures that disrupt a stable reading of the image. The figure has no fixed identity or emotional expression; instead, it sustains a tension between material weight and perceptual fluidity. The ink line generates a sense of slow movement, as if the form were caught in a continuous state of transformation.
The drawing was created as a visual dedication to Simon Posford (Shpongle, Hallucinogen). The title Dorset directly references the track Dorset Perception, which served as a point of departure for reflections on altered states of perception and their material translation. Rysunek tuszem Dorset przedstawia postać o hybrydycznej, organiczno-mineralnej strukturze, sytuującą się na granicy figury i formy krajobrazowej. Jej segmentowane ciało przypomina jednocześnie formację skalną, relikt biologiczny oraz konstrukcję o niejasnym przeznaczeniu. Postać funkcjonuje jako strażnik – nie w sensie narracyjnym, lecz symbolicznym – byt regulujący relację pomiędzy naturą a percepcją.
Psychodeliczny charakter pracy wynika z procesu fragmentacji formy i nakładania się rytmicznych struktur, które destabilizują jednoznaczny sposób odczytu obrazu. Figura nie posiada jasno określonej tożsamości ani emocji – zamiast tego operuje napięciem pomiędzy ciężarem materii a płynnością świadomości. Dorset è un disegno a inchiostro che presenta una figura dalla struttura ibrida, organico-minerale, collocata tra la figurazione e la forma paesaggistica. Il corpo segmentato richiama al tempo stesso una formazione geologica, un residuo biologico e una costruzione dalla funzione indefinita. La figura agisce come guardiano - non in senso narrativo, ma simbolico - regolando la relazione tra natura e percezione.
La qualità psichedelica dell’opera emerge attraverso la frammentazione della forma e l’accumulo di strutture ritmiche che destabilizzano una lettura univoca dell’immagine. La figura non possiede un’identità fissa né un’espressione emotiva chiara; mantiene invece una tensione tra il peso della materia e la fluidità della percezione. La linea d’inchiostro suggerisce un movimento lento, come se la forma fosse sospesa in uno stato di continua trasformazione.
Il disegno è stato realizzato come dedicatoria visiva a Simon Posford (Shpongle, Hallucinogen).
